Padel is played in ninety-minute blocks by four people, and a club that imposes hourly slots on it creates a half-hour of dead time between every booking. Over a twelve-hour day on four courts that is a meaningful amount of court time lost to a setting.

Setting the slot length against the court rather than the club also lets an indoor court run a different pattern from an outdoor one, which matters as soon as the weather does.
